Here is a copy and paste from a post that Sam Cavazos decided to post on Greg Kerrs facebook page. Just like the people Sam supports it appears that Sam is the one who refuses to accept the truth and is a coward. He continually refuses to accept the truth and has zero concern for Weslaco and is only interested in seeing more of Johnny Cuellar. There is no lawsuit between Donna and Weslaco over land or anything else and that fact has been rubbed in Sams face on a number of occasions. If you are a citizen of Weslaco, which I suspect you are, I am glad to discuss my intentions with each and every person that wants to know more about me and why I am running. While I am unaware of any pending lawsuit over land between the City of Weslaco and the City of Donna, I would be glad to address some of your concerns. As to your question of why Im running for City Commissioner: Im running because I care about our City. My wife, children, and I actually live and pay taxes here. My kids play in our broken down parks, I pay more for water than citizens of any other city, and I live in a town that has been recognized as one of the worst citys in Texas regarding crime. I have seen the current commission do its best to spend more taxpayer money without justification as it can. I have friends, neighbors, and colleagues that have concerns on all of these issues. I do not want to live in a City that is robbing us blind. I am running to make a difference, and I am running out of a desire to serve you, your family, and our community. With respect to representation of Donna, my firm represents individuals, municipalities, school districts, and businesses. If you have ever met any one of my colleagues, you would recognize that they are the pinnacle of morals, ethics, and service when it comes to the practice of law. When the City of Weslaco engages in behavior that is harmful to its citizens and neighbors, those that are victimized are going to seek help. If you have been to any City meeting, you are aware of the current commissions involvement in litigation with nearly all of its neighbors. At some point, you need to ask yourself if every other city is in the wrong, or whether its our commission. Our City has expressed a desire to fight with our neighbors and to expand into areas far outside the limits of our city. Meanwhile, our streets and water delivery system are garbage, our police and fire departments are is disarray, and we pay more for water than any other city in Hidalgo County. Do you really believe it is in Weslacos best interest to acquire more land, miles away from its corporate limits, that Weslaco would be responsible for providing services too? We cant even provide basic services to our current residents. Finally, you have asked whether there is a conflict in my running for commission, and the simple answer is no. While you may be accustomed to a City Commission that does not recuse itself from matters in which an individual commissioner has a conflict of interest, I assure you that my intentions are to represent you with honesty and openness. If issues arises that involve matters that my law firm or I am involved in, I cannot ethically vote on those matters, or even participate in discussion of those matters. I will not have a hand in making any decisions that affect my clients and the City. I hope that I have addressed some of your concerns. If you would like, I would be more than happy to sit down with you and discuss, or have you over to my home to meet my family and me, so that you understand my motivations. Thank you.
