Here is a question of such a nature that is sure to cause some rancorous debate. I expect it will become a string of 100 or more posts, with people getting quite in the flesh, and eventuating in a few people unfriending this page, and one another. ____________ In Matt. 17, following Jesus instructions, Peter casts a line into the water and pulls out a fish with a shekel in its mouth. He uses this to pay the temple tax for both of them. In Matt 14, Jesus multiples 5 loaves of bread, and two fish, so as to feed 5000 men. This miracle is repeated in Matt 15, where 7 loaves of bread and several small fish are multiplied so as to feed 4000 men and their wives and children. Luke 5 relates the story of his disciples out in their boats all night without catching anything. Jesus instructs them to go out again, and their nets are immediately filled to overflowing - so much that they must call another boat to assist them. There are other similar stories in the gospels. Question: What kind of fish were these? Answer: Obviously these were all mackerels. What? Youve never heard of the mackerel of the loaves and fishes?
