Bands like the Animals, Stones and Yardbirds picked up American Blues when the music was all but forgotten stateside. America-mania also gave Britain its own simple style of country blues called Skiffle Music. It was easy to play, which helped, and the instruments were either cheap or home made. The Quarrymen, later the Beatles, started playing Skiffle, as did other future rock legends. The young man on the left in this band went on to have a fair career in rock.
