Here is the latest update.... On Wednesday, November 19th, I will be having surgery to place what is called a Mayan Reservoir Which is similar to a port in my brain. This is to help ensure that the Chemotherapy is delivered to the area of my body where we know we have Cancer. The Cancer is now in my Spinal Fluid, Brain, and Spinal cord. This is a very difficult procedure and it is pin point precision. I will be in ICU overnight. The procedure will be done at Aurora BayCare in Green Bay. I will have a CT scan post op to make sure it is properly placed. Then shortly after that they will test the Reservoir, They will test to make sure there are no more tumors that have popped up. As of now, we will possibly start Chemotherapy the week of Thanksgiving. I will be receiving 2 treatments a week for 8 weeks. They warned me that they will have to stop treatment if my blood counts drop. I was very fortunate 5 years ago and never had to stop treatments because I kept my counts up. Please keep the POSITIVE Thoughts, Prayers and Energy coming!!!! These past few weeks, have found me unable to walk without a walker, depending on others, but Ive learned to accept help. Mike and my friend Jes are AMAZING doing everything I ask and more. I plan on wearing my KAREN STRONG shirt for years to come!!
