Here it is! Relive one of the greatest moments in Uni Games history and easily the best victory Ive ever been a part of. After a huge 3 year rivalry, VU faced LaTrobe again in this years Semi Finals. A cagey and scoreless first half was followed by a scuffle in the player tunnel at the half time break. LaTrobe then scored a penalty after an awful decision to take a 0-1 lead. With 15 minutes left, an exquisite attacking move was finished off by co-captain Michael Varkopoulos to make it 1-1 and bring us back level. Then, with 10 minutes remaining more drama as our superstar goalkeeper Johnny Scollo charged out to stop a certain LaTrobe goal but was forced to handball outside his box and was unfortunately sent off. Goal scorer Vako put the gloves on and we made it to extra time locked at 1-1. Then for another 30 minutes of extra time, the boys gritted their teeth and hung on with 10 men to send the semi final to a penalty shootout. After having our first three kicks saved, it looked like our heroic effort was over but miraculously, our stand in goalkeeper Vako (who is not a keeper) saved three LaTrobe penalties!
