Heres BTR 2012 at Ring Dinner 2010. (Ethel Sue Kate McMillan, Rufus Morgan Creager, Ralph Ashleigh Bryant Phillips, Otis Branna Williams, and Zeke Kyndle Wray Faulkner) We were so nervous to perform on such a special night, especially because wed be debuting Wagon Wheel, an arrangement wed dedicate to our class. Im pretty sure we were practicing in the fancy Capital City Club bathroom that night, right up until the last minute. But believe me when I say we never took ourselves too seriously. When I discovered the Bathtub Ring my Freshman year, I thought it was about overalls and hokey songs. Honestly it was kind of a turn off, and I was not really involved in a lot of the campus traditions. But once BTR 2012 auditions came around, my Cornhuskin friends basically told me that I had a voice and therefore I had to audition. I wouldnt go alone though, so I convinced my suite mate, Branna, to come along with me and we indifferently walked into auditions at the Cate Center. We both made it in group, along with three other girls that Id only seen on campus. And these girls quickly taught me that BTR was so much more than the overalls and Mountain Dew. We were all very different, with ranging interests and personalities. We probably wouldnt have hung out together had it not been for BTR. But once we were together there was this instant unspoken promise we had between each other to be the best BTR we could be. Had it not been for this promise, I would not have had the opportunity to love and be loved by each of these beautiful women. And I am so proud of them and all the adventures weve shared and boldly taken on our own, knowing that no matter what well always be there for each other. I am so honored to have been in BTR, but Im more grateful for the time I spent with these women - laughing and crying, learning about the goodness of hearts. And I know I wouldnt be the same woman I am today had I not sang with them in overalls. - Ralphie BTR 2012
