Heres a great write-up from Samantha Field about her experience at #TRPinDC last weekend: So when I was sitting in National City Christian Church listening to Reverend Allyson Robinson preach one of the most touching and challenging sermons I’ve ever heard, I wept. It was the first time I could remember being able to worship without walls, being able to listen without shields. I didn’t have to endure another callous message, another cheap shot. I was safe.... For two days we had the courage to explore what the possibilities can be for the church. What sort of church can we build for the future? What legacy can we create? We’ve received an inheritance of hate, of bigotry, of discrimination, of misogyny—but at this conference we came together and said we can do better than this. The church doesn’t have to exclude the LGBT community. “Gay” and “Christian” don’t have to be a laughably ridiculous oxymoron. We are capable of truly living by Jesus’s words “they will know you by how you love one another.” That is the sort of church The Reformation Project is interested in building. That is the experience it hopes to create for every LGBT+ Christian. And, after attending this conference, I think we just might succeed.
