Heres a wicked old board circa 1950s shaped by Tony Johnson in Dennis Quanes factory at Redcliffs, Christchurch. This was before Popular Mechanics magazine ran a plan for the Kookbox, which was a similar hollow ply construction. Im not sure what kind of wood the dolphin inlay is, maybe Kauri? Love it anyway! Tony is still alive and cranking at 84, a lifetime member of the Sumner Lifesaving club with four generations of family involved. Stoked to be able to secure such a historic board.
