Heres an opportunity to teach people about Aikido! Please indicate if youre interested in helping ASAP. The message below is from a programs assistant. My name is Chloe Acebo and I work up at the Colleges Nine and Ten Activities Office as a Programs Assistant. My job entails me finding unique ways for students to get involved and participate as a community through extracurricular programs, especially with local organizations and campus-wide collaborations. I have an idea and I was wondering if you would be open to it. I am working with aPeer Facilitator for an on-campus residential floor which teaches and incorporates Non-Violent Communication at College Ten. We were trying to come up with a program which incorporates an active form of NVC teachings, and we had the idea of having an Aikido session here as we understand that this form of non-violent self-defense. This would be an open activity for both College Nine and College Ten, and we need an instructor. I was hoping that you or one of your instructors would be open to coming to teach 1 or 2 hour sessions on Friday, February 7 at night. We would be able to provide compensation, and if anyone is willing to teach, I would love to meet with that person to see which elements of Non-Violent Communication could be incorporated, since there is a lot of overlap. Further, this could be perfect for your club since it could reach out to new members as well as promoting your club in general. This is something we are really excited about being able to do, and Id love it if you could get back to me.
