Heres the latest on my daughter and her friend So within the first few hours across the border we managed to get car robbed. We stopped at a hotel parking lot in Seattle for ten minutes to run in to use the wifi and check directions. Came back to the car and everything was gone, Lindsays passport, both our bags and wallets, my camera, gps, CDS, ukulele, food, shower stuff, cards, money, electronics from the glove box, and her guitar and entire camping back pack with all her clothes. A police officer came and took down some information but said we had stopped in the worst neighborhood in Seattle and this happened all the time, they were probably long gone on the freeway right now and there was nothing we could do. The police officer told us to just go home and kept mentioning all the shootings that happen in the neighborhood. We tried to explain through tears that was impossible being from Saskatchewan and all and especially now that we had no money and Lindsay no passport. However two totally nuts but also kinda really heroic Americans had been watching from their hotel room and said they saw a grey honda park beside my car, a man get out and have both trunks open for a while, then drive away. The man of the two went walking around the parking lot after the police officer had left and realized the same gray honda was parked JUST ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE PARKING LOT. Lindsay saw her guitar and blanket in the back and we called the police officer to come back. For a long time everyone stood around arguing about what to do (while I cried on the phone to my parents). Our crazy American friends were saying they wished they had a gun and that I dont give a shit if Im seventy Ill knock him out! Ill kill them! Ill lay down in front of this car he is not leaving this parking lot! While the police officer alluded we should just smash the windows after he left and take our stuff back cause if he impounded the car for evidence wed never get it back. However with the help of the night laundry guy we were able to identify the car to a girl staying at the hotel, in a room with two guys and another girls. Three other cops showed up and the first cop filled them in that we had indeed been robbed, and the men who had done it had indeed parked, not thirty feet away from my car, and were still staying in the same hotel. They went up to the room they were staying in and searched it. The girl in the room had no idea the guys (who were of course high as kites) had robbed our car (using her car) and was super cooperative and opened up the trunk. And we got ALL OF OUR STUFF BACK. Minus some shower stuff and food they must have thrown away. The cops practically bounced with joy out of the parking lot. They kept saying This NEVER happens, no one EVER gets all their stuff back. Holy moly...
