Heres the motion passed by Stirling SU: Support for Free Education General Meeting Notes: · That access to education is one of the most important factors in creating an equal opportunity Britain; · That whilst higher education in the UK can cost up to £9,000 for domestic students and substantially more for international students, all students suffer as a result of living in a less fair society; · That the NUS demand free, affordable, quality education for all; · That UK undergraduate students at Stirling can end up paying £6,750 for each year of study, and · That there is a march for free education through central London on Wednesday 19th of November. General Meeting Believes: · That if we believe in free education, we should we willing to fight for it; · That those who are most affected by the issues are those most likely to struggle to get to London for a demonstration of this kind; · That there is a significant number of Stirling students who, given the opportunity, would like to go, and · That the unions campaigning budget is there to be spent on defending students interests like this. General Meeting Resolves: · That the passing of this motion will be a declaration of support for the march; · That the Union will promote the march through social media and a poster campaign, and · That the Students Union will provide transport on a pay what you can basis to any student wishing to attend the demonstration.
