Heres what I wrote on my own FB page and so it gives a little context to people who may not know anything about The Posies: The Posies have re-released Failure after 25(ish) years. I actually discovered them via Dear 23 which was their second album but I quickly found out about Failure. I liked D23 better but I did have a huge fondness for Failure. The thing about Failure, in particular, is that I listened to it when I was going through a complicated time in my life. Not only do the songs sound somewhat childish (as they should - the guys wrote it in high school) but my emotions surrounding it were childish. When they were playing it tonight I looked back on that time in my life with a certain amount of, Awww, hey... its gonna be okay. It was painful. Im not talking about how they played. They were great. There were a couple of songs that were a bit rusty but Ken and Jon are professionals and they are able to play it off very easily and with humor. I LOVED that part of it, honestly. After the Failure songs they played some D23 songs which are just as potent for me now as they were then. There was one in particular, Everyone Moves Away, that was actually better right now at this moment than it was previously. I have seen Ken and Jon perform countless times and each time it really is a delight. They are the heart of my favorite band for a reason. Their music is so good and their personalities are fantastic. This time was no exception. That said, my inner 19 year old really, REALLY needs a hug right now.
