Hey, Ive been meaning to say this to you for a while, and keep putting it off. But I just wanted to say that Im tired of you always bashing on stuff, denouncing art, music or culture you think is bad, and railing negatively in general. Every time you rail against a band or song I like, it makes me question myself. Then it makes me question our friendship, and finally, it just makes me question you. You see, I like most of that stuff. Sure, I have what you think is bad taste, but its my taste. I cant help it that I like Styx, or grew up with a mother who listened to Stevie Nicks on repeat though all of 1981. Or that I find artistic merit in Bastille. And I know my taste in electronic music is extremely niche. But its my taste. I dont rail against your life choices, dont proclaim my decision to have a child the only way to live. Im comfortable enough in my own skin not to take what you say personally, but it does make me not want to listen to you anymore. And Im pretty sure thats the opposite of your intended effect.
