Hey Mammas Cave fans! Its no secret that the Seattle music scene is taking a big hit right now with dwindling crowds at shows due neighborhood demographics/an aging music fan base/and wealth inequality etc Attendance is dropping rapidly, beloved venues are shutting down. Sometimes at local shows, its just a handful of paying customers. I understand Lofi has traditionally been thought of a destination venue, and known for dance nights like Emerald City Soul Club, Snap etc But Ive been doing Mammas Cave shows here for nearly a year now. Most people are oblivious to or not seeing posts/invites for shows on Facebook. I am soliciting your feedback about what we can all do as a community to revitalize things. I just saw the news about Chop Sueys probable demise as a venue and it breaks my heart. Seattle has always been such a tight night community with bookers and venues working in concert to build a sustainable scene, that benefits the fans, the clubs and the musicians. It hasnt been at all cut throat and competitive. As an fyi booking shows (the last 10 years) has always been a labor of love, vs my main source of income (I have a career as a social worker) This is not about money. So, Any ideas? If youre interested in supporting the shows I put on, would you be kind enough to like my posts on here (tends to get the word out to a wider fan base when you do) follow my posts? Going to also start a newsletter, hope youll subscribe. Also getting together a cadre of super music fans called Mammas Cave Brigade Let me know if you want in on that too. Love Mamma
