Hey folks in the NYC area (and those of you with friends in the NYC area)! If youre free this coming Thursday night, Sept. 18, consider going to the opening night of an exhibition called Traces at Photoville in Brooklyn. The exhibit, designed by Public Works Collaborative, features documentary photography by Ian Teh and an original score by Ben Sollee. Tehs photographs focus on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in northwestern China, which is home to ice fields that are warming faster than the rest of the world and the Yellow River, a primary water source in China that is running dry more and more often as a result of climate change. About 3,000 of 4,077 lakes in the first county the Yellow River flows through have completely disappeared, according to the Worldwatch Institute. And thats just at the beginning of the 3,000-mile-long river. If you dont live in NYC, you can still listen to a track from the score Ben put together for the exhibit! https://soundcloud/thebens/traces Traces runs through Sept. 28. Hope some of you all in NYC can make it to the exhibit and report back about what you thought of it! ~ anne, team sollee Also, here is a link to the exhibit, if youd like more information: https://facebook/events/702162259873788/?fref=ts
