Hey guys! As you may know, the 2013 NHL Hall of Fame Class was announced Tuesday afternoon. Out of the three male players (the other two inductees were a female player Geraldine Heaney and a legendary coach Fred Shero), two played for your New Jersey Devils! Chris Chelios was the third. Scott Niedermayer, whose jersey was retired on December 16, 2011, was selected by the Devils third overall in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft. He spent 13 years with the Devils, which included all three of our Stanley Cup Championships in 1995, 2000, and 2003. He was a three-time All-Star with the Devils, making appearances in 1998, 2001, and 2004. He also won the Norris Trophy, which is awarded to the top D-man, in the 2003-04 season. Brendan Shanahan was selected by the Devils second overall in the 1987 NHL Entry Draft. He spent four years with us before signing with the Blues in 1991. During his time in Detroit, he won three Stanley Cups, including back-to-back championships in 1997 and 1998. After playing two seasons with the Rangers, he re-signed with the Devils to conclude his career during the 2008-09 season. Congrats to two legendary players, who each played for your favorite team! They are both well-deserving NHL Hall of Fame inductees. - Skiddy
