Hey would you mind breaking up that $1 million dollar - TopicsExpress

Hey would you mind breaking up that $1 million dollar contribution/pay to play/influence buying into nice, small $60,800 pieces? Thanks. Thats essentially what goes in with Cuomo and many other political leaders in NY, but Cuomo leads the pack....by a long shot. If you were wondering how it was that Cuomo amassed $47 million in political contributions, wonder no more! Read the bombshell report by the NY Times attached here. Basically the big money donors get around the campaign limits by creating multiple LLCs, each of which can contribute $60,800. If youre a big real estate developer in Manhattan.... creating an LLC is easy and well worth it if youre looking to buy some influence. Of course, when Cuomo was first running in 2010 he characterized large LLC contributions as one of the campaign finance system’s “loopholes. But, as Governor running for re-election in 2013 he said “Those aren’t loopholes, those are the laws that are written.” At least hes consistently hypocritical. If Cuomo ends up resigning in disgrace it will be because of the Moreland Commission disaster. A disaster he created through his corrupt action of shutting it down when they got too close to him. Among other things contained in the article its apparent that federal subpoenas have been issued and prosecutors and F.B.I. agents have also been able to determine that for some time, Mr. Silver had failed to disclose income from another law firm besides Weitz & Luxenberg, which has been the only firm he reported receiving income from. Im sure though that...you know....he simply forgot to report that other income which he is required by law to do. I mean...its pretty common to forget whos paying you ....right? Whats really interesting, but Im sure has no bearing on Silvers complete reluctance to reform NYs tort laws, is that the Weitz in Weitz and Luxenberg is a director of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, a heavy lobbying presence in Albany. AND, the Luxenberg, in Weitz and Luxenberg is listed as treasurer of Lawpac, the trial lawyers’ political action committee. But...you know....like I said...Im sure that has NOTHING to do with Silver refusing to even consider tort reform. Take the time to read the article. And try not to get nauseous.
