Hi Everyone Judge Vernita Lee Bender has asked me to post an invite to the class of 1989 since we didnt have a lot of our classmates addresses. She would like to invite you to a Meet and Greet she will be having on Tuesday, March 25 from 5-7pm at the new downtown restaurant The Square. For those that we were able to get invitations to you do not have to have it to come. She is running for Superior Court Judge of the Southern Judicial Circuit. This includes Colquitt, Brooks, Thomas, Lowndes and Echols counties. The office will be located in Moultrie. The current Judge, Judge Frank Horkan, will be retiring December 31, 2014. She is currently the Municipal Court Judge for the City of Valdosta. She has been in this position for over 7 years. Prior to that, she had her own law office for over seven years and she was also a former prosecutor having worked in the District Attorneys Office and was the Solicitor for the Municipal Court for the City of Valdosta. Voters in all five counties (Colquitt, Brooks, Thomas, Lowndes and Echols ) will have an opportunity to vote for the next Superior Court Judge. The election will be held on May 20, 2014. Early voting begins April 28, 2014. The last day to register to vote is April 21, 2014.
