THE BOA EATER: (1). Akpanochie branched off the main path that led from the village to the farms. He was highly pressed. He needed to shyt up. He saw what koooked like the trunk of a fallen tree lie under a bigger standing one. Positioning himself on it, he pulled down his pants and began to defecate. Coming up a few metres behind him, i saw were he strayed off. I looked towards this direction and saw him doing his thing. Calling out his praise name, i waived to him cheerfully intending to move a few paces and wait for him, for i was not acquinted with the terrain. Then i heared the sound of ruffling of leaves. I looked up the tree under which he was. My heart flew. Gliding effortlessly through the air was a monster of immense proportions. Barring its fangs with eyes red as red hot charcoal, it came towards my guy. My heart skipped and my feet got transfixed to the spot as i beheld this grotesque spectacle. I alerted Akpanochie, so he could flee, but he didnt, for unknown to us, what he tot was a fallen tree , was actually the tail end of this venominous beast. The constrictor had already began to entwine itself round his feet. What could i do. I was not armed, neither could i take on this serpent bar handed, when i am not Bruce Lee or Jackie Chan. I pointed the beam of my powerful torch light straight at its eyes so as to confuse its visionn It stopped momentarily as if considering adding me to its breakfast. Then ignoring me as though both my torch and I were beneath its notice and so not worthy of its recognition, moved closer towards Akpan. It got set for its final strike. Akpanochie made no attempt to move. The atmosphere was tense. I prayed silently for a miracle as i closed my eyes ssssssssssssss.
