Hi Folks just a little update on our big weekend. More updates will follow during the week. Can we share and see if we can let more people know. Thank You! 2013 is the year of “The Gathering”, an initiative to invite and welcome people to our wonderful island to join with us and celebrate our culture and heritage. 2013 is also a very special year in the Fenagh St Caillins GAA club as we are celebrating 125 years in existence. Our celebrations will take place over the August Bank Holiday weekend with a host of free events honouring our long and rich club history and the theme of the Gathering. Friday 2nd will start off the weekend with us going back in time to the 1930’s with open air music and going with the theme “Dancing at the Crossroads” John McCartin and his musicians will be on stage with special guests so get your 1930’s gear on and good hard nail boots to dance the night away. There will be very special concessions for those who make the effort and dress up in this era. We will also have a very special showing of our local Scor talent. This will be a very special night, a night NOT TO BE MISSED. Saturday 3rd August, the Sean Leyden tournament will be played in the park followed by another free open air concert. A open air mass of remembrance for all members of St Caillins GAA club, past and present, will be celebrated by Fr. Tommy Greenan (former club player) in the Abbeys on Sunday morning at 12.30pm. Afterwards the Handball alley will be officially opened followed by an exhibition from some of Irelands finest Handballers. Festivities will continue in Fenagh village on Sunday afternoon when we host our “125” barbeque, a family fun day with activities for young and old, live music, banter and craic. A once in a lifetime Tug of War, when the top half of the parish take on the lower part. The Mayor of Drumshanbo will be on hand to make sure all is legal and fair in this instance. Bedrock Republic will be on stage when the launch their new CD. More updates to follow!!
