Hi..... I like this video. So for a rare instance I shall give my review. Cause you know not all which are deemed good by society actually purely perfect if analysed in detailed. (B.S from me, I just want to release some stress from studying, gotcha there... ;P) One of the greatest and most common advice given to us is that we shouldnt complain because others suffered more than us. While this piece of advice may work practically, sometimes there are just that little gap of what if and what if that exist at the back of our mind. Allow me to shed light on that. Heres some perspective, Im the opinion-giver and youre the judge. Questions: 1) If they suffer more than us, the people shown in the picture, and we are not supposed to complain because of them, then do they deserve to complain. Think about it. This message is suitable for us, but if this message shown to them (less fortunate people) what will they feel? Hey, we ought and should complain, cause we are the suffering one (mah) (Im more pro now using Chinese slang by the way, LOL). Indeed such presupposition is unnecessary. They should be called role models. Not to show us the visible distinction between less suffering and more more suffering. 2) Seriously, so are we suppose to just ignore our pain? What the... Everyone has problems. We need to deal with them accordingly. A simple statement like you should be grateful is too simplified to deal with the complex needs of every reasonable human being to give proper response to their problems. Ignorance, ladies and gentlemen is not a form of solution, empathy and reflection are in fact better alternative to handle a problem. Whenever we have something that bother us, we should know that we are not alone and its alright to have such problems or challenges (in case youre more positive in your approach) because we are human. This will surely promote a better society, much better paradigm than simply ignoring the cry of help from others because you think hey, you should be grateful, dont complain, what a piece of sh*t. 3) Lastly, also the notion of complain. Once more lets ponder upon a quote by Emma Goldman The most violent element in society is ignorance. So, we ought not to complain, how about if theres something that needs to change or can be improved? For example, how about if your bus system in university have more space for upgrading because students may be having a slightly bit of a hard time with it? Or where the salary in your place is so shallow and undeserving towards your amount of time spent working? Arent we suppose to complain? If not, how longer must we put up with it? If Martin Luther didnt start complaining would the Blacks have their right today? If poet like Maya Angelou didnt try to fight for womens right, would we have the sheer awareness to protect the rights of women? My point is sometimes we didnt pay much attention into the details of moral education. In this video for example, it didnt make the distinction between the bad kind of complaining and the good one. Indeed, living in our society, no matter which parts of the world that is we ought to be responsible as in helping to make changes, not only for us but for our future generations. Now there lies a heavy moral obligation. In conclusion, yes I agree that keep on complaining for our own selfish needs is not progressive nor productive. But certain types of complain, definitely yes. Being grateful is not equal to being ignorance, it means seeing the possibility given by God to create some positive contribution. That we see ourselves as capable and is given a chance of loving and thus making the world a better place. Gratitude is not a state, its an ever dynamic ways of thinking or feeling. Those people you see in the video, you can help them and plus some of them never give up on life and this should edify us. They should be a role model. Not only should we consider these facet of society term as poor people as role model, but also some of the well-to-do people. What can we learn from them in making changes, in being harnessing their strength to make a better world? Princess Diana? The Pope? Markiplier? (gosh, I love him)... haha So if you read this till the end, I thank you for listening to my long speech. Being a liberal minded person I cant help to rethink some of the beliefs held by society that are taken for granted. Relying on the unfortunate state of others is not a good way to spread gratitude vibe. The feeling of thankfulness should come from within or external. Think of those people in Syria, in Palestine and other war-torn nations. Where should they find more unfortunate people than they are? They are lonely, poor, abused and always live in fear. Its kinda cruel to continue with the previous way of thinking is it now? So be thankful, not because someone else suffer more than you, but because you are made in the image of God, youre the mirror and vessel of love in this world. Youre amazing. God bless. :)
