Hi Ward Family! As many of you know, Its an exciting month for our ward- the youth started their Missionary Month yesterday. As a heads up, for the parents of the youth, at the mission firesides last night they were given journals, scripture study helps, and missionary goals. We wanted to post the goals here, so EVERYONE can help, encourage and assist the youth in having a successful month. Thank you! Here they are: Missionary Month Goals 2014 Book of Mormon challenge “The Book of Mormon is both clear in doctrine and full of invitation to come to the Savior. Regular study will strengthen your faith, and draw you nearer to the Lord. Your knowledge, faith, and testimony will increase.” Elder Henry B. Eyring. Create a habit of daily scripture study by creating a scripture journal. Use the scripture journal study guides every day, show them to your Mission President or AP each week. Daily Prayer The Lord Jesus Christ commanded, “Ye must always pray unto the Father in my name” (3 Nephi 18:19). As we make a habit of approaching God in prayer, we will come to know Him and draw ever nearer to Him. Our desires will become more like His. We will be able to secure for ourselves and for others blessings that He is ready to give if we will but ask in faith. Work, self-reliance, service “Young people ought to learn to take care of themselves… being accountable for their own lives helps young men and young women emotionally.” Elder Ballard Wash, fold, and care for your own clothes for the month. Clean up your living space once a week, contribute to helping in your family living space. Plan and prepare food for your family for one day. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. Service to and for others is an important characteristic of Jesus Christ. His disciples are willing to bear other’s burdens and comfort those in need of comfort. With your Companion this month take time to plan and carry out an act of service for someone else. Prepare to serve Live Life as a missionary for one week. Wake every morning by 6:30 a.m. to bed by 10:30 p.m. Media blackout- For five days listen, read, and watch only mission approved materials (anything available on lds.org, and school materials, and watch only church sponsored television/movies.) Cell phones are ok but NO TEXTING for five days. Take yourself away from the distractions of the world, “be still and know that I am God.” Be Worthy Stay worthy Sometime during the month visit the temple to do Baptism’s for the dead, or make an appointment with the Bishop to see what you need to do to get a temple recommend.
