Hi beachtennis lovers, We heard many wrong rumors about what happened in Aruba and we would like to explain to everybody what really occured. First of all we would like to apologize with all of you beachtennis lovers( spectators live or on streaming) if we made you waiting for a while and we put you in a thrilling situation. Sorry! But we was pushed to do what we did. Two years ago, itf changed some rules transforming our sport in a theoretically more democratic sport. But in practice beachtennis turnt soon in an unaffordable and undemocratic sport. We have been playing for two years spending our own money because these new rules didn t protect us as a professional players. We have maken all our efforts to promote beachtennis all over the world. We have seeded for many years but never collected fruits. Only thanks to many organisers s efforts we could survive so far. For almost all of you, beachtennis lovers, beachtennis is your hobby and the best excuse to travell and visit other countries. You are players as well as tourists. You are the fuell of this sport and for that reason we want to thank all of you forever. But for us, beachtennis is our job. We know that many of you think we gained a lot of money and all the immaginable benefits. Unfortunately is not at all like this. We share with you just the most symbolic examples: in Aruba, the best and biggest tournament of the world, the winners won 2.250 dollars and they even had to pay the flight, the accomodation, the water and the food everyday. If even the winners loose money, you can easely understand that playing beachtennis is a kind of bankrupt for the others players registred. Another unbeliavable example is about the worldchampionship: we paid a huge fee and we didnt win any money and any benefits; rather we had to pay a touristic package for the accomodation. Aruba has been the best tournament in the world thanks to the hard and visionary work of the organisers, the partecipation of the top players and the finacial efforts of all of the beachtennis lovers in these last years. We tried for months, weeks and days before the tournament to involve the organisers in a civil and costructive discussion for the best of our sport. We never received attention. So we decided to make hearing our voice in the unique way we had. Our action was about dignity and gratitud. We have collaborated to the success of this event and we thought we have deserved at least a bottle of water in these years. Nobody of the 12 players decided to play because we got some money. Our action wasn t about money and nobody can say we accepted some money . Our action was about the future of this sport: we want to trasform it in an unaffordable and elitistic sport just for rich people or we want to engage ourselves in order to make this sport attractive and affordable for the current and future generations? Finally, we decided to play because beachtennis is our passion , because we are beachtennis addicted, and most of all, because it wasn t impossible not to play in front of the best audience of the world. Playing in the central court of eagle beach is the dream of all of us. we hope to be able to play there next year in best and more dignified conditions.
