Hi photo friends! A little educational piece today: Many prospective clients ask about securing the rights to their images. What they usually mean by rights is the ability to print, share & preserve their images forever. A Print & Web Release grants you these rights (or a version thereof). Cool beans, right? A Copyright Release, on the other hand, transfers the ownership of the image(s) from photographer to client, thereby preventing the photographer from ever using that image without the clients permission. Thats a pretty noteworthy difference, but the terms are often used interchangeably. So if youre scoping out photographers in the future, impress them with your know-how.
