Highlights from the last 21 hours: 1. Seeing my Dad and Brother and knowing we are all dealing/grieving the best we can. (We all agreed that in between bouts of spontaneous crying, we seem to be doing great.). And having dinner with them + my aunt Luann and uncle Sydney - with a lot of laughter (and some tears). 2. Knowing that 2 of my Moms friends have completely coordinated a food drop-off schedule (and have been for the past few weeks as my Moms condition worsened). 3. Hearing that there are friendly arguments around town about who really is my Moms best friend(s). She had a way of making everyone feel that way. 4. Hearing that when, in one of her most painful moment, her longest/oldest friend was going through a tough time with her husbands illness, that she could not be there to help her friend. 5. Knowing that most of the decisions about her funeral were already taken care of by her. 6. Hearing that if the reception after the funeral was going to be at the house that absolutely no red wine was to be served. :) Its not - and my dad is relieved that he can now drink red wine. :) 7. Knowing that even near the end, she was always thinking of others. And the three of us just finished a project she started, of giving her jewelry to her friends with a note that reads, I have wonderful memories of all my dear friends.
