Hmmm this is a complicated issue. Nothing is done for free, and for everything China are giving, they are getting back more in return. To begin with, for most of these projects they hire their own laborers and contractors, robbing the locals of job opportunities. Not forgetting to mention the great percentage of natural resources that they now have ownership of, in return for these quick fix development schemes. Okay they are great for right now, but when these railways need maintenance and fixing, best believe their contractors will be called in once again to get the job done. With China being the new superpower it would be stupid not to interact with them, the whole world has their dealings with them in some way or another. But we need to be cautious, as those that give you power, and the same ones that can take it away. It would be great if we could stand on our own two feet sometimes and build our own railways without having to rely on external sources that are also after their own benefit. We need to believe in ourselves more as Africans, we can do it on our own if we put our minds to it. The easiest and quickest path to long term success is never the best route to take. THIS IS JUST ONE POINT OF VIEW, AND ADMITTEDLY A SKEPTICAL ONE, WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?
