Ho hum... I have to say 2014 was a disappointing musically. If the following looks like a list made by someone desperately trying to hang on to music that is long past its expiration date, thats because maybe it is. What a letdown after being so excited about Sahg last year! NOTHING on this list demanded repeated listens; some of it is downright disappointing (Opeth, Mastodon, and I didnt even list the Yes album because it was so damn boring). On the up side, there were a few pleasant surprises (the newfound jamminess of Fu, Brian Johnsons vocal performance, and the entire Cali Breed album), and I think at this point I just like some of these records solely because I like the sound of the band (OverKill, Vader, Accept, Entombed). Also: I havent cracked open the Soundgarden box yet, but even that is outtakes and B-sides mostly 20 years old... Suggestions are welcome; in the meantime, hand me a fork.
