Hobart and William Smith blasted in NYT for its handling of rape case. I understand why women would not want to go to police, but the criminal justice seems most equipped to handle these cases. Federal law mandates colleges do their own investigations and hold hearings, but theres a reason we have police, courts, judges and juries. College hearings dont follow same standards and leave too much open to unfair judgment of victims and accused. In any case, this is a troubling, sad story.
