[Holiday Tip #2] I dont know about you, but I do get somewhat tired of all the warnings and threats of holiday fat gain. Understandably this is a time of year when people tend to put on extra weight due to the indulgences that are more prevalent so I understand why the subject of every other post and article talks about ways to avoid holiday weight gain. Throughout this time of year I focus mostly on avoiding unnecessary stress associated with the worry that comes from gaining weight. Its also the only time of year where I let myself give in to the feast because I spend the rest of the year regulating my intake. However, I do have a few simple tenets that I try to stick to: * Ill add on some extra sets and try to lift extra heavy--if my body allows. * On feast days (Thanksgiving and Christmas) I eat regularly throughout the day to keep my blood sugar regulated. That way Im not ravenous and dont eat everything in sight when dinner is served. * I load up on proteins and veggies FIRST and then I wait a but before going back for seconds. If Im still hungry Ill get more proteins and veggies and will dabble a little with some of the other treats. * I leave the extra food intake for Thanksgiving and Christmas only. The next day I go back to my traditional eating habits. If leftovers are offered Ill take home more proteins and veggies. * I banish feelings of guilt if I overindulge. These feelings are pointless and usually result in a significant continued binge fest. Enjoy that extra slice of pie or the extra helping of stuffing. Relish in it and move on. What do you do to maximize your enjoyment and minimize stress during the holidays? Post your answers below. -Fat 2 Fit in 30
