Holy Crow! What a day! Got up at 5 am (after a birthday party and staying up until past midnight) and left my house by 6 am. Arrived at the rim of the Grand Canyon shortly after noon and then sat and waited until dark....6 pm. My colleague Barbara Aragon and I made it on the last chopper flight down to Supai, the main village on the Havasupai Rez. It is at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. I guess last Friday was payday plus percap day down here so lots of people went out to shop and we hit the rush of them coming back. We made it on the last flight in....otherwise we would have had to drive back to Peach Springs...70 miles...and get a room. Our bags did not make it. Neither did the rest of the people who were left there. So....no clean clothes to wear to work tomorrow. Luckily I grabbed my computer bag with my meds inside at the last second before jumping on the whirly bird. At least we got to eat and have a nice clean warm bed to sleep in. Tomorrow is a new day. Looking forward to the adventure. BTW...the full moon shining off the cliffs of the canyon is totally awesome.
