Holy shit! My heart is still racing! I was in the kitchen, when suddenly there was a commotion the likes of which I have never witnessed! I turned around to see what the hell was happening, only to discover a FOX running through my house, being chased now by Sampson AND Buckwheat! The fox jumped up onto the top of my club chair, tail fully bushy now, and Sampson was in full assault attack mode! Poor little Buckwheat got caught up in the whirlwind, got stomped by Sampson, and the worst screeching and barking you have ever, ever heard ensued. The chase went out to the pool, waking the neighbors, and Sampson now barking uncontrollably at BUCKWHEAT, who was smart enough to put himself between the railings and the pool enclosure, knowing Sam could not get inside! Lights came on, and Sam had to be given treats in order to calm him down long enough for me to scoop up Buckwheat, take him inside and put him on my bed, and lock the door, because now Sam was already in pursuit of Buckwheat. In the meantime, I HOPE the fox too off when I was chasing after the dogs. What do I make of all this? The fox was looking for water or food. The drought is driving the local wildlife down the mountains....and into my house. Rain. We need some rain, please!
