Homeopathy has been tested extensively - despite its a priori scientific implausibility - and consistently fails to perform any better than placebo. The NHS Centre for Integrative Care (Glasgow Homeopathic Hospital) in Lanarkshire rolls out this bogus treatment, as well as other dubious offerings such as mistletoe therapy for cancer patients, acupuncture, Heartmath (which works on the premise that the heart has its own memory and emotion) and neural therapy (a more elaborate and dangerous version of acupuncture involving multiple injections of anaesthetic). The Lanarkshire Clinical Effectiveness Group are currently reviewing the case for referring patients to this institution, and has put out a survey. Wherever you live, voting takes less than a minute and could help reduce the amount of institutionalized deceit we endorse as taxpayers here in the UK.
