Honestly, I understand why feminists are protective of feminism and hostile to men potentially hijacking it. That said, I think its incredibly short-sighted to exclude men from being able to claim the feminists label. Ironically, by relegating men to the status of allies (I really, REALLY hate that term, btw) it reinforces the gender binary, and actually buttresses patriarchy, while giving perceived credence to the MRA straw-man that feminism is about female supremacy, rather than equality. Women should be the leaders of the feminist movements, if for no other reason than they can be infinitely more objective about patriarchy than men because women experience the brunt of patriarchal oppression - but to carry this logic further and claim men somehow cant be feminists is simply not a good idea. #guysneedfeminism.
