Hong Kongs students showing their class by roundly abusing and mocking and swearing while physically surrounding policemen, then complaining when the policemen choose to put on earplugs instead of replying. Your parents must be proud for raising you this way. Is this the moral high ground? For a society where laws protect the public from police verbal abuse but not the police from the publics persistent verbal abuse, one has to wonder if police are having their rights adequately in Hong Kong. In the US, such protestors would simply be maced, pepper sprayed, beaten with clubs or have high-power water hoses turned on them. Some may even be violently arrested or even shot. Persistent weak law enforcement powers by the police may have been right in a respectful and peaceful community, but question the wisdom of that in a disordered one where people can give the middle finger to the law. The ultimate goal should be peace, so HK society can flourish. Chaos benefits those with nothing to lose but most HK citizens have a stake in the future of HK society. Peace and democracy starts with people willing to LISTEN before talking. Observe the Peace and Reconciliation Commission in South Africa after apartheid. People are too ready to criticise and blame others, because their egos are too big. They respect others rights less than their own. Thats how you ensure the collapse of democracy. Pity the average citizen in Hong Kong who just wants to get on with their lives and want these radicals to know when to quit. Strong law enforcement may prove necessary.
