Honored to have Spencer Livingston following us on Twitter!GROW, his debut solo release (produced by Peter Malick), takes an easy-going yet thought-provoking alt-rock, folk-Americana romp through the backwoods of L.A. Los Angeles native Spencer Livingston grew up on a steady diet of rock Americana. His early love of Neil Young and Tom Petty was reinforced by a strong dose of Wilco. Son of an actor and from a family of singers, Spencer is a natural performer. And though he was born and raised on the hem of Hollywood, Livingston has been nourished by a down-to-earth, artistic community supportive of his naturally rootsy inclination. Says Livingston, “I definitely come from a very musical family who exposed me to a really wide variety of music with everything from The Beatles to Woody Guthrie. As far as the way I write, I do most of my writing by just observing things as I go through life. Sometimes I just have an idea that pops into my head when I am going through my day and I write it down. It is as simple as that.” Spencer’s sensitive lyrics and disarmingly familiar voice seem to pine for a simpler space and time right now.
