Hope this is allowed as its not TR7 but as a bit of an aside to the MYE778P story - the factories did things like that swapping LHD to RHD etc etc. I have a story; in the early 70s my Uncle went off to buy a TR3, in viewing one that wasnt right he spotted an E-Type and bought that - it turned out to be 9600HP which was the one used for the launch in Geneva. It was shown in Geneva as LHD then driven back to the UK and changed to RHD for the British motor show a few weeks later. Anyway my uncle also acquired another e-type 848CRY (Italian Job) which he had changed to personal plates (why oh why oh why!) He sold both of then with another early e-type (chassis nr23 I think) to someone in 1977 for about 10k. They then sat in a barn for years . . . until being pulled out and fully restored at an enormous cost - the chap who owns them now and had the restoration done wrote a book and is a name in the E-Type scene; my uncle was interviewed for the book and there are some pictures of him in it and the sales receipt of the 3 e-types. So yes factories did funny things with advertising/show cars back them. Also know that BL made the film company pay for the minis used in The Italian Job whereas Ford had offered cars for free as did Fiat and Fiat allowed filming for free on the roof of their factory in Turin.
