"Horse slaughter is inherently brutal and horsemeat may be toxic to humans, which puts consumers at risk. Furthermore, the environmental and economic impacts of these plants devastate communities -- plants that previously existed in the U.S. polluted local water supplies, lowered property values, and drained local economies. American taxpayers should not be forced to bear the burden of this predatory, inhumane enterprise."
