House surgency is the time which made most of us realise the stupidity of some rules society imposes over a girl. As per the rule a girl should: -not talk with elders face to face, especially strange men -remain in kitchen or in her own room when there is a guest in the home -not raise her voice -always get the permission of her parents while going out -not be seen out after evening -dress to cover herself and walk like a dove and so on............. And what we have to do here: (say every house surgeon here, as default) -talk with strangers :be it elders, men,or whoever; convincing and authentic, atmost serious matters and even declare a death. -be in the centre of the crowd, shout when needed, and do whatever necessary for your patient even if there is a 100 of them looking right at you -sleep in strange rooms in hospital and distant PHCs where there will be hardly a security to safeguard.(the list includes a small cabin of ent casualty, where we have to sleep on an examination table!!!) -walk through the verandas at odd times when there is a patient who needs you..accompanying a sick patient with a group of bystanders, whether it is all men, at any time......u have to expect a house surgeon at any place in hospital or premises at any time! -to see and deal with all sorts of unsightly scenes. To clean and dress ulcers which even the close relatives and own children hesitate to look! And if we ask them to remove the cloth over it , they may say njangal engana ath nokua!!!!ayyooo...doctor thanne maatiya mathi - to sit in a casualty in late night hours, sometimes alone and have the guts to deal with an all bleeding or dying patient or even a corpse! If we can do this every girl can do! so parents,, dont teach them to hide themselves and lower their voices. teach them to speak out, be independent and daring! your little girl may have to grow upto this :) tag: :D
