People and products could be transported much greater distances and the world was opened up to everyone. Unfortunately it also changed the environmental course of history. Oil is a limited resource that not only has to be refined from the environment but it also creates carbon emissions when burned. This has caused a need for action to help curb the consequences that have come from the invention of the automobile. Luckily that is where the hybrid car comes in. Reliance on Oil With more and more vehicles on the road and an increasing population, it has never been more important to figure out alternatives to foreign oil. There is only so much more oil available from our current sources and as such more and more political pressure is being introduced to drill in protected lands and offshore. This could potentially be devastating to the natural wildlife in these areas. Using a hybrid vehicle helps to take the pressure off of our current oil sources, causing the fuel to last longer and reduce the need to find new sources of oil in nature.
