How NOT to get nominated for Parent of the Year. Last night, Officer Webster and Officer Borchers were dispatched to the Kroger lot after we received a call about an obviously intoxicated person with a small child. The caller was concerned for the well being of the child after he was almost struck by a car. After arriving in the area, Officer Webster observed a vehicle fleeing the lot at a high rate of speed. Officer Webster radioed that he was going to stop a vehicle for reckless operation. The driver decided not to comply with the stop and decided it was best to try and flee. The driver fled south on Montgomery Road to Woodburn Ave to Madison Ave. The driver crossed Madison and then turned off the lights to the vehicle. For a brief moment, Officer Webster lost sight of the vehicle. He saw brake lights as the vehicle turned right onto Burdett Ave. The operator lost control of the vehicle and struck a parked car as it tried to turn onto Ashland Ave. The driver and passenger attempted to flee but were quickly apprehended. It turns out the driver was the intoxicated female from the original call. Thankfully, no one was hurt. The child, who as seven years old, was traumatized by his mothers actions. The mother was arrested and charged with felony fleeing and eluding, child endangerment, and driving under the influence.
