How about some CrossFit vocab for today. WOD = Workout of the Day EMOTM (Every Minute On The Minute; I like to use this format as a warm-up)= An exercise or a short list of exercises are performed on the minute, whether you have completed the list or not. For example, Perform 5 Squats, 5 Sit-ups, 5 Push-ups for 7 minutes EMOTM: The participant strives to complete, to the best of their ability, each exercise and all 5 repetitions in one minute, for 7 minutes straight. AMRAP (As Many Rounds As Possible)= we provide a list of exercises and a designated time, 20 minutes is ideal, and the participant goes thru the list as many times as possible during the time constraints to accrue a numerical total. The goal is to increase the number of rounds each time this WOD is performed. Tabata = Total of 4 minutes of work, at 20 seconds of intense training and 10 seconds of rest. For example, Air squat and Push-up Tabata: The participant performs 20 seconds of air squats, rests for 10 seconds, and then perform push-ups for 20 seconds, rests for 10 seconds and then repeats cycle for a total of 4 minutes. For each round, repetitions are counted from start to finish. The goal is to increase number of repetitions each time this WOD is performed. “For Time” = A said WOD is performed as fast as possible. The goal is to decrease the amount of time it takes to perform the list of exercises each time it is performed. Benchmark WOD: CrossFit uses pre-designed workouts (they all begin with a girl’s name, so they are commonly referred to as “The Girls”) to quantitatively measure, monitor and evaluate one’s fitness level through periodic performance of each WOD.
