How best to convey the peculiar combination of impressions made by this day here in Ithaca? On the one hand, a bit like any Michaelmas Saturday in Oxford: gray, damp, somewhat urban somewhat rural if you walk near Christ Church meadow then end up at High or Market on your way to Blackwells.
