How interesting. The 10 most common wines used in the Arizona wine industry are Syrah, Grenache, Zinfandel, Sangiovese, Mourvedre, Viognier, Malvasia Bianca, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Sirah and Chardonnay. Syrah is by far the most common (better than 10% of all the wines produced in the Arizona wine industry contain Syrah), and the big mover is Viognier, which is now in the top 5. This once obscure and virtually unknown varietal now comprises more than 7% of all the wine produced in the state of Arizona. Go Viognier GO! In fact, nearly 50% (HALF) of all the wine produced in the state of Arizona contains Syrah, Grenache, Zinfandel, Sangiovese, Mourvedre and Viognier. With the exception of Petit Sirah & Chardonnay, Flying Leap Vineyards grows each of these. Another finding in our research is that the most uncommon grapes used in the industry are Aglianico & Picpoul. We grow a small amount of the latter, but I dont know much about Aglianico. Flying Leap Vineyards is committed to quality, sustainable agriculture and expert, disciplined winemaking practices. We grow a vast portfolio of wine grapes on our ranches in southern & southeastern Arizona, and we produce a delicious array of finely-crafted, ultra premium wines from our harvests. Our wines can be sampled & purchased at any of our four southern Arizona tasting rooms - in Tucson at St. Philips Plaza, or in downtown Willcox or Bisbee. Our wines may also be sampled at our estate winery located along Arizonas most scenic wine trail along Elgin rd in the states only federally-designated viticultural area, the Sonoita AVA.
