**Hubert Sumlin: ~11/16/1931~ A veteran of the Chicago blues who got his start in the business when Howlin’ Wolf personally invited the guitarist to join his band in 1954. With the Wolf as his mentor, Sumlin blossomed into one of the fiercest guitar slingers that roamed the entirety of the blues. He remained with Howlin’ Wolf for two decades, up until the singer passed away in 1976. Sumlin then proceeded to build his own acclaimed career that he continued with until his death in 2011. His skilled fretwork has influenced the likes of Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, Bob Dylan, Warren Haynes, John Mayer, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, and more. This is the only known filmed version of Smokestack Lightning by Howlin Wolf. This was shot in England during the famed American Folk Blues Festival tours and features the legendary Hubert Sumlin on guitar.
