Huicholes: The Last Peyote Guardians received the award for Best Documentary at the Red Nation Film Festival, the premiere festival representing the work by and about indigenous peoples. This award is received on behalf of the Huichol people, bearers of the words and deeds of spiritual struggle they launched and continue to defend Wirikuta, their sacred territory, and the message they give us: the urgency of caring for life on the planet . Thanks to all involved in the effort to carry the Wixárika message to all hearts. Thanks to David Kot for receiving the award on our behalf yesterday in Beverly Hills. Thanks to our committee in Los Angeles, Fe Evaone, Amber Rose González and Silvia Toscano Villanueva, for representing the film during its screening. Thanks to the jury of Red Nation Film Festival and all who support us in this collaborative effort between indigenous and non-indigenous peoples.
