Biotech Industrial Training Program (BITP) - Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India On behalf of Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, Biotech Consortium India Limited (BCIL) is coordinating a scheme of practical industrial training for students from North Eastern States (viz. Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Tripura, Nagaland, Sikkim) for a period of 6 months with a stipend of Rs. 8000 per month. The objective of BITP is to provide industrial exposure to students to improve job prospects and to help biotech industry identify prospective manpower. And under the scheme, the students will be placed for training in biotech companies who are willing to impart them to these students. This programme is mutually beneficial to the students and companies as it provides industrial exposure to the students and an opportunity for industry to select prospective manpower. It is advantageous for the companies as it gives them an opportunity to assess the performance of the trainees and subject to availability, suitable trainees could be considered for placement BCIL was incorporated as public limited company in 1990 under the Indian Companies Act 1956. It is promoted by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India and financed by the All India Financial Institutions including IDBI, ICICI, IFCI, UTI and IFCI Venture Capital Funds Limited. It has been actively involved in technology transfer, project consultancy, fund syndication, information dissemination, and manpower training & placement related to biotechnology over the last decade and half. Who can apply: Students with BE/B.Tech/M.Sc/ME/M.Tech in Biotechnology or Bioinformatics from recognized universities in North Eastern States or with domicile of North Eastern States are eligible to apply for this programme. Location: Candidates will be required to join anywhere in India. Applications for change of location will not be entertained. Stipend: The training is for a period of six months during which every trainee is paid a stipend of Rs. 8000/- per month. And please note that the students selected for training will have to make their own arrangements for lodging & boarding. The company may/may not provide boarding/lodging facility on chargeable basis or help in finding accommodation. Please write your Name, date of birth and mobile no. on the reverse side of demand draft. • A copy of proof of domicile of North Eastern State attested by gazetted officer. • A copy of degree/final marks sheet of highest qualification attested by gazetted officer.
