I AM BACK IN PDP FOR MERIT AND EQUITY (Being text of address delivered by Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka (GNI) while obtaining Expression of Interest form at the Peoples Democratic Party, State Secretariat, Abeokuta on Monday 20th October, 2014) No doubt, the past four weeks have witnessed a significant realignment of opposition political figures within Ogun State which are signs of the desire of many patriots across political divides to rescue our people from a sinking regime. As a leading gubernatorial Aspirant it became imperative for me to appropriately situate my position in the new movements as the decision to take a stand becomes expedient. I was confronted with a choice between sentiment and truth but i choose the latter. I have consulted widely and also submitted myself to blunt and rigorous engagements from a wide range of associates and stakeholders from different walks of life including Statesmen, artisans and political juggernauts who believe in me and my capacity to offer Ogun the best. They have indeed advised valuably which serves as a bedrock of my new conviction and reality. I am back in my original home Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the convenient and viable platform for the fulfillment of the aspiration of our people in order to Make Life More Abundant for them in view of the new political reality in ogun state. My being here to obtain an expression of intent form is the first great step to reaffirm my belief in the Ogun state project and desire to drive the socio-economic recovery and regeneration of our people. I am submitting myself to serve as the governor of Ogun state in 2015 under the platform of the PDP. My intention to serve is borne out of: 1. conviction that I possess the capacity to lead this state to a greater height from the background of Sound professional and academic background, Solid and enviable private sector experience, Sterling Public sector performance and achievements, Rich and proven knowledge of Nigerian Economy, Deep knowledge of Ogun State Socio-political & Economic landscape and Demonstrable relevant experience in governance of Ogun State. I am a well-known brand in all the 236 Wards of Ogun State, I have been Consistent, focus and integrity driven. 2. I come from a part of the State that is highly marginalized and have not been opportune to govern this State in the last 38years of its creation despite the abundance human capital resources and rich history of contributions to the socio economic development of the State. The intention therefore conveniently qualify me as an aspirant of Merit, a model of Excellence, a product of Equity, and a Symbol of Justice & fairness. I implore all to be mindful of this principled focus to pursue merit and equity for posterity sake. I must also submit here that PDP in Ogun State have undergone a reformative process that has repositioned it as a democratic platform that is just, fair and equitable enough. To this end, I use this medium to salute those that have held forth and put the party together such that some of us are now confident to return to it. Huge commendation must go to the Engr. Adebayo Dayo-led executive for the tenacity and good work they have put together at bringing about this new vista of hope. Same encomium goes to all party executives at the local and ward levels, I salute them all. I also wish to recognise the immense effort of the Chairman, Southwest Mobilization Committe of the PDP, (Prince) Buruji Kashamu for his dedication, commitment and courageous leadership of the party in Ogun state in the intervening years. His relentless efforts and resources have helped sustained the party since 2011 and I commend this great stride. I also salute all leaders of the party that have kept the faith and worked hard to keep the party vibrant and viable. In the same vein, i recognize and appreciate my boss, the former governor of Ogun state, Otunba Gbenga Daniel for his leadership and mentorship. He has played a significant role in this new political marriage of forces- for which he is a major driver. I respect and salute him and will continue to drink from his fountain of knowledge. I sincerely appreciate my numerous followers, leaders and others well-wishers on the show of support and commitment to our struggle. I will bring in my organizational capacity, my resources, my goodwill and good public approval rating to bear on the PDP. It is my belief that PDP will form the next government in Ogun State from May 29th 2015 and I encourage unity, hardwork and sincerity of purpose by every single member of the party in achieving this noble aim. Long Live PDP! Long Live Ogun State!! Long Live Nigeria!!!
