I Must Admit I Was Disturbed by this Video….I Was NOT Present at the City Council Meeting on Tuesday, and I Did NOT See this Video Prior to the Coastal Alliance Meeting on Wednesday had NO Knowledge That He Would Be There, in Fact I Just Learned of the Coastal Alliance Meeting that Morning and Decided to Just Show Up. Unlike the City of Myrtle Beach Council Meeting which ONLY allotted him 3minutes to Speak, He Spoke for Approximately 30-40 Minutes. The purpose of the Coastal Alliance Meeting was to Form a Task Force to Work With Making Bike Fest Better….Bike Fest Was the ONLY Item on the Agenda, and He Was the ONLY Speaker Invited to Speak by the City of Myrtle Beach….The Coastal Alliance Consist of the Mayors and Council Bodies Along the Grand Strand….There Were NO Residents Present at the Coastal Alliance Meeting, However There Were News Media and Reporters Present…..As I Sat and Listen to Him Speak, I Was Disturbed By the Things He Was Saying and How He Depicted Us, NOT Bikers, BUT as a Race of People…..To Continuously Hear the Words Echoed “Those People”…..To Hear Him Tell the Story of Freak Neak…..To Hear Him Tell the Story of Being a Young Boy and What His Mama Told Him…..To Hear Him Offer Nothing Beneficial Worth His Presence of Being There Seeing that the Purpose of the Meeting Was to Build a Task Force to Work With Bike Fest….I Watched the Reaction From the News Media and Reporters, I Watched the Reactions of the Mayors and Council Bodies as they Grew Restless With Him Speaking and NOT Offering Solutions to Making Things Better, BUT What They Did in Atlanta to Get Rid of Freak Neak in Atlanta…..The Chairman Stated If We Get Rid of Bike Week it Would Essentially Take 3-4 YEARS to Building Anything to REPLACE the LOST Revenue and We Can NOT Afford to do That…..Sotomayor Was Asked a Few Questions But Again, His Focus Was Simply to Tell Them How to End It….NOT The Focus of What the Meeting Was For…..I’m So Glad That I Showed Up….I’m So Glad That The Attendance Were Mayors and Council Members…..For Once We Had a Collective Voice of Listening Ears ALL in the Same Room, For Once Everyone Was Able to Hear Openly the Discussions That Each Were Having Separately With Us…..For Once We Had a Meeting of the Minds of We NEED to Work With the Motorcyclists, following My Speaking NORTH Myrtle Beach Mayor Hatley Acknowledge the Collective Efforts We Had Since 2008 and Overall Bike Fest Was Better in NORTH Myrtle Beach, the Chairman puts forth His Motion on the Floor to Forming a Task Force to Working With the BikeFest, That Will Include the Professional (Elected Officials) and Public (Lawyers, Businesses and Motorcyclists)…..I Respectfully Stayed Professional and Did NOT Acknowledge Sotomayor as MY Focus Was Us as Motorcyclists…..Until Afterwards When Sotomayor Addressed Me With How Many of My African American Biker Friends Have Been Sued, How May of My African American Biker Friends Are Forced to Close Their Businesses Losing Money Because of My African American Biker Friends….So What Are Your African American Biker Friends Saying About That…..I Responded What We As Motorcyclists Are Saying is…..Who Are You, Why Are You Here, You Do NOT Represent Us as Motorcyclists, Therefore Can NOT Speak for Us, You Were Invited to Speak About Something You Have NO Knowledge Of, Youre NOT a Tourist of South Carolina, Youre NOT a Motorcyclists, You Have NEVER Attended a BikeFest, Therefore The Question Becomes, Who Are You and Why Are You Here....He Went to Respond to me, and the Chairman Interrupts Him and Say We Are Going to Proceed With the Motion of Forming a Task Force to Working With the BikeFest, That Will Include the Professional (Elected Officials) and Public (Lawyers, Businesses and Motorcyclists) and the Meeting Was Adjourned.
