I THINK I KEPT YOU HANGING LONG ENOUGH WITH THE FERN. I hope you - TopicsExpress

I THINK I KEPT YOU HANGING LONG ENOUGH WITH THE FERN. I hope you arent upset with me, but I had to take my wife in for surgery today and could not talk much. She is fine, or will be after a few days of my TLC and bed rest. Enough of that! Get ready to be intrigued. If I have come across as an educator, I am. Just retired. Pyrosis lingua is a species of epiphytic fern in the Polypodiaceae family. Another name for it is Japanese Felt Fern, and yet you may hear it being called, Tongue Fern, Shi Wei, Japanese Felt Fern. To me it doesnt matter what name you want to call it, but there is one thing you will call it, and of that I have no doubt; you will certainly call it pretty. Many just call it felt fern because of the way it feels. Like its name suggest, it feels like a very thick piece of felt. At least the back side of the leaves do. Some people suggest it feels like cardboard. I have also heard it called the cardboard fern. In fact for a long time I thought that was its true name. It spreads with rhizomes along the ground and the leave arise singly from it. Believe it or not, though here I am growing it on flat ground, it loves to grow on steep slopes.
