I actually rather enjoyed this and think most of his critiques are spot on. I can only say he seems to have very limited experience with burners since his a priori assumption we all drink the Kool Aid is a little off. I am well aware it is an expression of my privilege when I go for a vacation, much like if I were to go be a tourist in Cambodia. I am also well aware of how not green it is, and that it is an idealist experiment whose practical realities dont line up with its ideologies. Knowing all this I still go to be a part of the social experience where I get a vacation with the people I enjoy, not because I am making a political statement or think I am actually doing some sort of activism. Get a PhD in sociology if you think you really want to change the world and then talk to me.
